Gratitude

Few would argue that we have been going through a difficult time since  2008.  But how many of us have stopped to acknowledge the positive things that  have come to us during this time or to thank those who have been kind or  helpful to us?  It’s not just at Thanksgiving that we can be grateful.  Focusing  on the good things that happen all year round can help us to feel more content  with our lives.

Gratitude has a power of attraction which changes our life for the better.   In other words, if you are genuinely grateful for money, healing, clients or  whatever, those items will continue to appear in your life.  If they seem not to  appear, it may be that the time is not yet right. When we plant a flower, we  know we may need to wait a certain amount of  time for it to  bloom. Sometimes deeper examination will show that the gratitude is not actually  sincere, but rather an attempt to bargain for certain results. True gratitude is  not simply a statement, but a deep and sincere experience.

The magnetic power of gratitude tends to transform any person or situation  because whatever we focus on tends to grow and attract other similar things.  It  is in the nature of gratitude to produce happiness because people who feel grateful think they  have enough of what they want.  Unhappy people are often preoccupied by what  they feel is missing in their lives.

So how do you attract these blessings into your life?  It’s actually fairly  simple and only takes a few moments every day.  Different people have different  ways of bringing gratitude into their lives. Some like to write about what they appreciate and and others like to speak out loud to themselves  or others. Set  aside a little bit of time at the end of the day, and write out 3-5 things/events which happened during the day,for which you feel grateful.  They  can be small items, but things that were meaningful to you.  Some examples might  be that your boss took you to lunch, you got good results on a medical test, you  had a pleasant conversation with your significant other or even that the weather  was sunny.  You found a trinket which will make a great gift for your mother,   you had a delicious dinner etc.  Don’t make them up; choose things are truly  meaningful to you.

When you’ve made your list, whether you write them in a  journal or share them verbally with somebody, you may find that the day was more  positive than you thought.  You may even feel something something of a glow  around your day. You might want to share your positive feelings with others  around you.  Such are the blessings of gratitude!
