Career Coaching Success Stories

The pride of any successful career coach is measured by seeing how so many clients have made satisfying transitions.  At Lansky Career Consultants, we’ve helped many people in different phases of their lives create changes within their current companies or fields; others made major career moves or started their own businesses.

Here are three of many career transition success stories achieved with the help of Judi Lansky:

Bruce’s transition from recent college graduate to first full-time position

Bruce was a recent college graduate, unsure about how to start his career. We worked on clarifying his skills, interests and values to help him identify the type of job he would enjoy and what he could offer a prospective employer. Once he determined that his analytical and computer skills would support his Finance major in a very effective way, he decided that an analytical position in a bank or financial institution would be an excellent fit. We coached him about his resume, taught him to build a network of contacts, and practiced interviewing. He is currently very happy in his position as an analyst in a large bank.

Barry’s career change transition

Another client returned a few years after finding his dream job. As sometimes happens, the dream turned into a nightmare when a new boss was hired. While Barry took some time off to consider what his next career steps should be, he volunteered at a center for people with AIDS. When the staff discovered how strong his analytical skills were, he was offered an opportunity to use his financial management skills as CFO of the organization. Barry is pleased to be doing what he considers socially responsible work.

Suzanne’s transition from public to private sector

Suzanne had worked in government for her entire career, but her most recent transfer had landed her in a position that made her very unhappy. She wanted to make a lateral move into a similar position in the private sector. When she identified her skills and interests, it became clear that her supervisory and detail-oriented skills would transfer well into that arena. She polished her resume and contacted a recruiter. Two interviews later, she had become a Billing Supervisor at a major Fortune 500 company downtown at a similar salary.
